Welcome

We are Massey-Riverhead Presbyterian Church.
A place to grow in God.

We have been in the Massey community for over 50 years. If you’d like to know more view our history page.

With God’s help we aim to be a faith-filled, loving church. Where people of all ages and cultures hear the Word of God, find faith in Jesus, and become authentic Christian disciples. Who are empowered by the Holy Spirit to go out into the world with integrity and compassion and be effective witnesses for Jesus in word and action.

“What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants through whom you came to believe – as the Lord assigned each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.”
1 Corinthian 3:5-7

Our Purpose

Our Beliefs

to win   –             to have people in our communities and churches won to Jesus by the power of God.

to build –             to help people be built up to live as faithful disciples of Jesus.

to send –             to equip and challenge people to represent Jesus in the world.

We hold to biblical Christian faith, to the inspiration and authority of the Bible, and the biblical Gospel.

We believe in the biblical Gospel: that human beings must turn away from doing wrong, must put our faith in Christ as Saviour and be born anew through the power of the Holy Spirit.

We believe in biblical discipleship: in an on-going relationship with Christ which involves loving God, prayer, Bible reading, fellowship, loving and serving others. We must share our faith with others in word and action.

We warmly accept, subject to the Word of God, the Apostles and Nicene creeds and the Westminster Confession of Faith, Kupu Whakapono and other doctrinal standards of the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa.

OUR CORE VALUES

Following the one true God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We are Trinitarian.

Worship that is sincere and God focused – We want to worship in spirit and truth; we want it to be focused not on ourselves and our needs but on real respect and devotion to God himself.

The authority of the Bible and its relevance for today – We believe in teaching the bible, it is after all the inspired and authoritative Word of God and we believe it’s relevant in every time and context and in so many parts of our lives.

Forgiveness and new life through faith in Jesus.

Prayerfulness and dependence upon God’s Spirit – We believe that prayer is as essential to spiritual life as air is to breathing; because we are all absolutely dependent on the work of God’s Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit is released into our lives and the power of God is released through being dependent upon God’s Holy Spirit.

Discipling of all ages – We believe our church should be focused on all ages not just the young or on the youth or the people in the middle or on the older generations but on ALL generations and all should be being discipled to follow Christ.

Being a loving church family – We believe that we must absolutely love one another and treat each other well and look out for each other.

We welcome all cultures and ethnicities – We believe that all cultures and ethnicities are equally valued and treasured in the heart of God and that being a multicultural church is a wonderful gift from God.

We believe in sharing Jesus with the world in word and action – All Christians must share the truth and grace of Jesus with a needy world both in the way we speak and interact and also in our actions.
